The Teroldego grape is native to Trentino and has been cultivated here since ancient times. It is extremely rich in polyphenols and grows perfectly in the sub Mediterranean climate of South Tyrol. The grapes, which are the source of the most characteristic Teroldego wine, ripen on the gentle slopes of the Avisio Hills around the Rotaliana Plain.

Cantina Lavis

The Cantina La-Vis winery is situated in the heart of Trentino and dates back to 1850 when it was founded by the Cembran family. The production area is comprised of vineyards located in Trentino but extends from the hills of Meano, La-Vis and Sorni, with some plots in South Tyrol, as well as the emblematic terracing of the Valle di Cembra up to Isera in Vallagarina. Since 1948 it has been run as a cooperative, when 14 independent wine-makers initially began this endeavour establishing the core of the modern production unit we see today. Lavis Teroldego is deep ruby red in colour with an aroma of violets that develops notes of plum and small forest fruits. It is soft and rounded on the palate with a particularly spacious finish.
Great with starter dishes with meat sauces as pappardelle with hare sauce, but also roasted meats such as pork loin.

Highly Commended & "Top 50 Wines under £15" - Wine Merchant Top 100, 2024. Jancisrobinson.com, 2023, 15.5: "An edgy, energetic wine that tastes like kissing wild-strawberry- and forest-blueberry-stained lips. There is an undertow of fresh mushrooms and mushroom compost and a lick of old lichen-covered stones and then the finish loops back to fruit and the tannins feel like little fingers pressing in gently. A friendly red with lovely mountain freshness." Wine Merchant Magazine, Tried and Tested, 2023:"The Teroldego variety is at home here in Trentino, adapting well to the sub-Mediterranean climate of South Tyrol. It's clearly in expert hands with the Cantina Lavis co-operative, which has crafted a soft and approachable wine with plummy notes, and an extra level of depth as a result of five months on its lees and some partial oak ageing."
