Frederic Lambert

Frédéric and Marie-Anne Lambert founded the estate in the early 2000s, establishing it in 2003 following Frédéric’s long-standing passion for viticulture. It began with around 5 hectares of vines and has since grown to approximately 12 hectares. Based near Toulouse-le-Château, the domaine specialises in the main Jura grape varieties with an emphasis on low yields and precise vineyard work to express site and variety. Frederic’s son Romain joined in 2020, continuing the family involvement, with his daughter Lucie expected to join in the future.
A delicate nose of citrus fruits and white flowers with a mineral streak. The palate is fresh with crisp acidity with ripe fruit alongside a pronounced mineral backbone, leading to a saline, nutty finish.
Aged for up to 9 months in oak under flor, with barrels filled to two thirds.

Joanna Simon, Wine of the Week, July 2026: "Even if you think you don’t need another Chardonnay, trust me, you need Domaine Frédéric Lambert Côtes du Jura Chardonnay 2024. It’s different and it’s lovely. It comes from the Jura, the small, chilly, hilly region in the east of France between Burgundy and Switzerland, and it’s made and aged in a traditional way, spending nine months in oak barrels under a veil (or voile) of flor yeast. That doesn’t mean it tastes old-fashioned or like sherry or the Jura’s own long-lived sherry-like vin jaune. It’s more like a good white Burgundy, but really it’s in a pale, bright world of its own, with layers of honey, walnut, buttered toast, tangy fresh lemon and salty preserved lemon wrapped in a rich, smooth texture and signed off with lingering citrus zing."
