From one of California’s most awarded wine estates, Jordan Chardonnay is often mistaken for a white Burgundy. Not a typical California Chardonnay, it is the combination of night-harvested Russian River Valley grapes, French oak aging and old-world winemaking techniques which has created a balanced white wine defined by purity of stone, fruit flavors, vibrant acidity and a succulent finish.

Jordan Vineyard & Winery

The name of Jordan is synonymous with Californian wine. Founded in 1972 by self-proclaimed Francophiles Tom and Sally Jordan, whose many visits to the Chateaux of Bordeaux convinced them that they could make wines of similar breeding and terroir-led elegance in cool areas around the Napa and its surrounds, if only they could find the right dirt, and the right people. Their search led them to the cool Alexander Valley, north of Napa itself, where proximity to the Pacific ocean and its beneficial cooling gave hope that their grapes would ripen slowly and give the much needed freshness and minerality.

The purchase of 275 acres of land was completed and a planting programme started,...

“A vintage defined by its crispness, vibrancy and freshness. Pretty aromas of honeysuckle, lemon blossom and Fuji apple spring from the glass. The palate boasts bright, lively layers of citrus with a hint of oak and creaminess from careful barrel aging and batonnage. Flavours of kumquat, lemon and Fuji apple linger in the juicy, mouth-watering finish.”

The grapes are picked over several days to ensure maximum freshness and ripeness, all hand-picked and transported to the winery in Alexander Valley. The grapes are optically sorted to discard any grapes less than perfect, and then pressed, before fermentation in steel tanks for twelve days using wild yeasts at around 18C. The wine is then transferred into used and 10% new French oak from Allier and Nevers forests, and aged for twelve months in oak ( with lees stirring ) and a further twelve months in bottle prior to release.
